Zenith Rope-Edge Eames Armchair

$1,500.00
ON HOLD

First-generation Zenith rope-edge armchair designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller.

This early seafoam fiberglass shell displays the dense, irregular fiber pattern associated with Zenith Plastics' first production runs for Herman Miller. The rope-edge molding remains intact along the perimeter, marking one of the earliest construction methods used in Eames fiberglass chair production. The seafoam color retains excellent depth, with visible fiberglass throughout the surface.

The chair retains its original X-base, slightly tilted back to a lounge height. The underside preserves both the Zenith checkerboard label and the Herman Miller Furniture Company mark. Produced during Zenith Plastics' brief manufacturing partnership with Herman Miller, rope-edge shells remain among the earliest and most sought-after Eames fiberglass chairs for their distinctive material character and limited production period.
