Martz Ceramic Side Table

$4,200.00

Ceramic top occasional table, designed by Jane and Gordon Martz for Marshall Studios. The circular top is composed of an inlaid ceramic mosaic, with glossy square tiles arranged in concentric bands that give the surface a measured rhythm and subtle tonal variation. Shades of warm gray and brown keep the composition restrained, while the slight shifts in glaze catch the light beautifully.

The walnut base is formed from slender dowels rising from a rounded circular plinth, giving the piece a light, architectural profile. The joinery is thoughtful and precise, very much in keeping with the craftsmanship associated with Marshall Studios. It is a compact table, but one with real presence, balancing the earthy tactility of ceramic with the clarity and warmth of finely worked walnut.

A strong example of mid-century American studio design, this table brings together utility, material richness, and the handmade character that defines the Martzes’ work. Well preserved, with handsome wood grain and a ceramic surface that presents beautifully.
