Scarce model FJ 51 lounge chair known as the Delegate Chair, designed by Finn Juhl and produced by Baker Furniture. The sculpted frame is shaped through long, continuous armrests that taper into the front legs, with softly rounded joints and a broad lower rail supporting the upholstered seat. The separate back, seat and loose cushion appear suspended within the exposed structure, an important feature throughout Juhlβs work.
The chair was developed around 1950 for the United Nations Trusteeship Council Chamber in New York and was later included in Baker Furnitureβs first collection of Finn Juhl designs in 1952. The Delegate Chair was produced for a limited period and has not been returned to regular production, making vintage examples particularly uncommon.
