Complete set of three original Time-Life Stools, Models A, B, and C, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. First commissioned in 1960 for the lobby of the Time-Life Building in New York, the stools were informed by Ray Eames's interest in sculpture. Each model has a distinct profile, with turned geometric forms that have earned the designs the nickname "chess pieces." Constructed from laminated solid walnut blocks, the stools display beautiful variations in grain across their surfaces. These vintage examples retain a rich patina and the natural character of the original wood. A complete set of all three models is particularly desirable.
