Eames Time Life Stool Model B
Original Model B Time Life Stool, designed by Charles and Ray Eames. These were first created for the lobby of the Time Life Building in New York and then issued by Herman Miller. This vintage example shows the distinctive geometry of Ray Eames’s sculptural approach. One of the three designs that were a part of the set, the Model B is sometimes called the “chess piece,” the form alternates concave and convex volumes with a clear sense of balance and play. The walnut is richly figured, with a mosaic pattern across the top surface that varies uniquely in each stool. Cleaned and polished, the stool is in excellent condition.
